Church Background Checks for Staff and Volunteers

Church background checks are designed to help ministries implement and maintain a thorough background screening program for employees, staff and volunteers. Preventing sexual predators and violent offenders from working with children and youth should be a primary concern for all churches.  As accounts of sexual abuse in churches increase, background checks for volunteers and staff are now a necessity and not an option to consider.  However, churches should not rely exclusively on background checks, they should have policies in place.  Church leaders must be able to assure parents that the church is doing everything possible to ensure that children are safe; background checks are the first level of due diligence.

Three Rivers Baptist Association uses the services of Protect My Ministry. If your church would like assistance from Three Rivers in getting a background check on a future employee, current staff, or volunteer, please use the links to get both of the required fillable pdf forms. Then print and mail a hard copy or email them once completed and send a check payable to Three Rivers Baptist Association in the amount of $12 to get a basic background check. Additional costs may be billable if a state other than Illinois is requested.
